OCCUPY WALL STREET MESSAGES

ADBUSTERS

http://www.adbusters.org/campaigns/occupywallstreet

“#OCCUPYWALLSTREET is a leaderless people powered movement for democracy that began in America on September 17 with an encampment in the financial district of New York City. Inspired by the Egyptian Tahrir Square uprising and the Spanish acampadas, we vow to end the monied corruption of our democracy”

OCCUPY WALL STREET

http://www.occupywallst.org/about/

“Occupy Wall Street is a people-powered movement that began on September 17, 2011 in Liberty Square in Manhattan’s Financial District, and has spread to over 100 cities in the United States and actions in over 1,500 cities globally. #ows is fighting back against the corrosive power of major banks and multinational corporations over the democratic process, and the role of Wall Street in creating an economic collapse that has caused the greatest recession in generations.”

NEW YORK GENERAL ASSEMBLY

http://www.nycga.net/resources/declaration/

(From the Declaration of the Occupation of New York City)

“As we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice, we must not lose sight of what brought us together. We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies.

As one people, united, we acknowledge the reality: that the future of the human race requires the cooperation of its members; that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their neighbors; that a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people and the Earth; and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power. We come to you at a time when corporations, which place profit over people, self-interest over justice, and oppression over equality, run our governments. We have peaceably assembled here, as is our right, to let these facts be known.”

“To the people of the world,

We, the New York City General Assembly occupying Wall Street in Liberty Square, urge you to assert your power.

Exercise your right to peaceably assemble; occupy public space; create a process to address the problems we face, and generate solutions accessible to everyone.

To all communities that take action and form groups in the spirit of direct democracy, we offer support, documentation, and all of the resources at our disposal.

Join us and make your voices heard!

OCCUPY (AUSTRALIA) TOGETHER STATEMENT

http://www.greenleft.org.au/node/49288

“We are calling for a nation wide peaceful occupation across Australia on November 5. This movement to Occupy Together is in solidarity with people in over 2500 locations worldwide who will also be occupying together for human need not corporate greed on November 5.

We believe the basic needs of 99% of the global population are continually being ignored by governments who instead cater for the richest 1% of corporations who control most of the world's wealth.

We also believe that in this time of global economic uncertainty people will have to come together to share ideas, food, water and power rather than allow these things to divide us.

We are calling on people from all walks of life to walk together and Occupy Together on November 5. All are welcome regardless of their occupation, race, religion, sexuality, gender or political persuasions. “

It intended to camp out indefinitely in the Sydney CBD, to organize, discuss and build a movement for a better world, truly democratic, in an attempt to raise awareness and the support of the 99% of the population to reclaim the power currently held by the super-rich “1%” individuals and corporations.”

“We, Occupy Adelaide, are an open and evolving group engaged in the struggle for an equitable, inclusive and sustainable democratic society. We gather in solidarity with the world-wide movement opposing the power and greed of corporations which place profit over people, animals and the earth; self-interest over social justice; oppression over equality; and which control and corrupt our governments. We occupy to peacefully demonstrate the urgency of rebuilding democracy from below and to challenge the forces of the 1% who perpetrate these injustices.”

OCCUPY GOLD COAST

http://www.occupygoldcoast.net/

“Founded on the 7th October, 2011, we at Occupy Gold Coast stand in solidarity with the Global Occupy Movement which started in Wall Street and has now spread across the globe. This is a movement devoted to bringing about change 'for the people and by the people' in a Directly Democratic fashion.

Occupy Gold Coast began as a result of a call for global change in which people all around the world were invited to reclaim the streets on October, 15th, 2011. Although we were initially focused upon getting out on the streets to Occupy the Gold Coast and rally people in by meeting with them face to face, we have now expanded into looking at how else we can bring about change.”
